Order planning for manufacturing starts with the moment when a customer orders a certain product. The sales representative will then take the order and create an order in a software system. The order card may contain the following information:
In addition to the production parameters of the order, the sales representative should think about the aspect of offered prices. The product needed to be produced for a certain amount of Full Production Cost (FPC). Above this price, the sales representative can add a certain amount of margin, which should correspond to the rules of the manufacturing company. If the company exports products, the representative should have an overview of conversion rate and its development.
The customer's requirements may include a documentation with specific drawings that need to be handed over to manufacturing department. The documentation should be accessible at all stages of the production of the order, for a better control of the delivery of the order.
If customers regularly order certain products, it is ideal if the product / order can be copied from history and thus save time.
Representatives should have an overview of the basic parameters of current orders every day. That's why it's good to see the products on a dashboard where the representative can see "P" as a prepayment, "T" as transport and the number of pieces of the order.
After successful completion of the product, the representative can plan transportation of the goods.
